Rustem Khamitov: "We hold International Children's Games above all for our children"
Ufa won the right to host the Summer International Children's Games 2019. This decision was announced on July 11 at a meeting of the Committee of the International Children's Games in New Taipei (Taiwan) in the framework of the jubilee 50th Summer Games.
The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov shared his expectations in an interview with TASS, "Ufa won the right to host the Summer International Children's Games in 2019 — a competition among schoolchildren, which will be attended by about two and a half thousand children from more than 60 countries. We have already held International Children's Games in 2013, but only winter ones and they were of much interest among young people. This competition is not prestigious in terms of public relations and informational boom, but we carry them out in the first place for our children so that the children can take part in them as athletes and as viewers. In fact, it will be a great holiday for the children from around the world, and Ufa has everything necessary to hold it at the highest level", said the Head of the Republic.
Rustem Khamitov also believes that more attention should be paid to the development of student sport and sports facilities construction at universities in Russia, by the example of the North American model with advanced student sport development.
In addition, Ufa can host any major international tournament together with other neighbouring cities.
